So I signed up for a Behance account. I’m only putting finished pieces up there that I’m really proud of. I still have a couple more I’d like to add, but check it out. If you have a Behance account you should follow me!
ALSO I updated my header image! In December my hamster, Twyla, and my rabbit, Molly, passed away. I didn’t want to remove them, so I added little halos and wings to them. I’ve also gotten a couple of sister hamsters since then who I named Penelope and Willow. I’ve added them to the banner as well!
I actually lied when I said this wouldn’t be done for a day or two. I finished it in a few hours XD
Anyway, I recently started volunteering at an animal rescue working with the bunnies. There was a bonded pair there named Pickles and Honey Mustard. A couple weeks ago, Pickles got into a fight with another bunny (most likely when they were cleaning one of the buns’ pens. We let them run around while we’re cleaning the pens and they’ll go up to other rabbit’s pens and nip at one another through the bars. I wasn’t there so I’m not sure what the exact story is). He ended up needing stitches on his nose and he was fitted with a cone. A few days later he was released from the vet and sent back to us in the rabbit room. He really hated the cone, I couldn’t exactly blame him. He was constantly trying to get out of it and I think, one night after we had left for the day, he struggled too hard and ended up breaking his back. One of the staff members coming in to give him his meds found him. I was so upset! He was doing okay (as much as he could be with a stitched up nose and a cone) and the next day he was gone. I felt somewhat responsible; like one of us could have done something along the way to save his life.
I wanted to draw a little memorial pic for him and his now widowed wife.
Line art finished!
I’m still getting used to this Monoprice Interactive Pen Tablet. Which I can’t believe I didn’t mention on this blog! I got one from my parents for my birthday which was a few weeks ago. Anyway, I’ve included a pic of me using it to work on this pic. It’s pretty awesome! But I’ve encountered some problems that I don’t know how to deal with. First it does this thing where the pen maintains contact even after I’ve lifted it off the screen. So a lot of times I get stray lines or dots that I never intended to do. You can kinda see them in the sketch I did for this Raph pic.
Secondly, when I’m cleaning up my lineart/shading, and trying to make straight strokes with the pen, IT ALWAYS COMES OUT BUMPY. No matter how slowly, carefully or how many times I erase or start over or undo. IT STILL DOES IT. I don’t get it. I don’t know if it’s something I can calibrate or if it’s something I have to learn to compensate for.
And thirdly, I’ve kept my Wacom tablet because the Monoprice is basically a second monitor and my Wacom travels easier. But I can’t get my computer to recognize pen pressure on my Wacom anymore! I’m sure there’s a way to get it to work, but I’m not sure exactly how to Google it so I can diagnose my problem.
Anyway, I have a small, special pic I wanna whip up quickly, so that will be finished next. Haaaa when I say “quickly” I mean “a day or two”.

Ooh I really like this a lot! your style is…
Thank you so much~! I have a hard time with water effects as well so I cheated a little with this pic. I found a stock photo of water reflections on the bottom of a pool and I just fiddled with it in Photoshop. God if I tried to draw those things from scratch I think I’d still be working on it XD
